The Ashleaf is officially open for business to some very small, very important VIPs. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local biodiversity and making our space a little greener, we have officially installed brand-new Bug Hotels around the grounds of the shopping centre!
Urban areas can sometimes be tough places for beneficial insects to find a safe home. Our new multi-story insect hotels provide the perfect, cozy shelter for all kinds of tiny neighbors, including:
Solitary Bees: Who use the hollow bamboo tubes to safely lay their eggs.
Ladybirds & Lacewings: Who help protect local plants by eating pests.
Beetles & Woodlice: Who set up camp in the lower log sections to do the vital job of breaking down organic matter.
By giving these little creatures a safe place to nest and hibernate, we are helping to boost pollination and support the birds and wildlife that call Crumlin and Walkinstown home.
We are delighted to add a little bit of biodiversity to our urban landscape. It’s just one small step in our mission to make the Ashleaf a greener, more sustainable hub for the community—both for our human shoppers and our multi-legged ones!
